Sorry Folks, QuahogCon is on hiatus

However, fret not Providence, as the new DC401 Crew is working on putting something together. It won't be called QuahogCon, as I'm holding onto the name, but with your support; and good planning and hard work on their part it should be good. Keep an eye on DC401 for more details.

QuahogCon 2011 Postponed

A number of circumstances (people moving, poor planning, etc) have collided to cause us to postpone QuahogCon 2011. Rather than try to rush a substandard Con out the door for 2011, we're going to take 2011 off and come back with a vengeance in 2012. Keep an eye on this space for details. We promise that it'll be worth the wait.

Holy crap, we survived putting on our first con and actually managed to make it look like we knew what we were doing. Once again, we'd like to thank all the attendees for coming and all the sponsors for sponsoring.

All the audio and slides that we have are available on the schedule page. Some of the audio either didn't get recorded or didn't come out so well, so if it's not there, it's not going to be there. Enjoy!

We'll be recording the talks so you can check them out after they happen. Not quite as good as being there, but at least you'll be able to hear the content.

Huge thanks go out to everyone who got in there and bought a ticket. Without attendees, we wouldn't be able to put on this con.

We've really scored an excellent speaker to close the conference out. Matthew Borgatti is a hacker, builder and designer who specializes in mechanisms and manufacturing. He's built monsters for movies ranging from Snakes on a Plane to Aliens Vs. Predator II. He's built stop motion sets for the Simpsons. He's worked on giant metal slabs for Raygun Gothic Rocket and the DNA Lounge.

Matthew will be giving the closing keynote at QuahogCon, giving us the low down on all sorts of rapid prototyping tools and techniques that have become reasonably affordable to the common man in the last five years. We're quite excited about this talk and think it's really going to wrap things up well.

We have one more sponsor announcement today. J&J Technologies of Wareham, MA has signed on as a sponsor of QuahogCon. They are the fine people who are doing the manufacturing run of the hackable badges for us. While we obviously have to pay for the materials to make the badges, they have given us a big break on the labor to assemble them. We really appreciate their support of the con in this way. If you find yourself in need of some contract electronics manufacturing, please consider them. They're fine people who do excellent work, right here in New England.

It's a big weekend for announcements here. One of our speakers did us a huge favor and hooked us up with the folks at the Microsoft Security Response Center. They've agreed to come on board as a sponsor. Corporate budget planning being the way it is, they don't have funds to give us, but they will be providing a very nice item that we'll be giving away as a prize for one of the contests. We really appreciate the support.
